Elizabeth Wires | Midnight Loon Glass

Kenora, Ontario, Canada
I am a glass artist living and working in Kenora Ontario on beautiful Lake of the Woods. My glass work is inspired by my natural surroundings of forest, water, fora and fauna. Last fall (2016) I had the pleasure of working with two amazing glass mosaic artists in creating a glass mosaic canoe. Creating glass art is often a solidary process, so spending time with Alice Avison and Sue Straight was fun. Our glass mosaic canoe was part of the Dip, Dip & Swing Art Exhibit this past summer. So good to see ART in Kenora’s downtown and Harbourfront. Our glass mosaic canoe is now permanently exhibited at Kenora’s Discovery Centre, overlooking Lake of the Woods, and the Trans Canada Trail, Path of the Paddle. Many thanks to the Lake of the Woods Arts Community (LOWAC) who organized this exhibit. Thanks also to the Ontario Art Council who provided exhibition assistance funding to Midnight Loon Glass for the installation of the canoe. It was appreciated.
